I first discovered these chips back in 2010 at a Cantonese style restaurant in the east side of Toronto, and thought they must require some special chef skills and tools and techniques that the only way I could ever eat them was to return to the same restaurant. But, my cravings got the better of me and so, eyeing a big clove of garlic, chopping knife in hand, cut thin slices and threw them into a pan of oil until they turned golden. And surprisingly, that is really all there is to it!
I've included measurements/amounts below:
Ingredients:
1 big clove of garlic (about 10 g) sliced thinly
1 tbsp safflower oil (any vegetable oil will do)
Heat oil in skillet until medium hot and fry garlic slices, flipping when one side becomes browned. Remove garlic from heat immediately and let cool. Enjoy on your favourite savory dish :).
